The Writing Workshop’s Self-Paced Online Mystery Writing Workshop is for  young writers aged 10+ who have completed the Self-Paced Online Creative Writing Workshop.

The Mystery Writing Workshop

The online workshop takes place in a password-protected environment. It comprises a series of eight exercises to help participants explore elements of the mystery genre and of the nature of mystery.

The workshop takes place over six months, and participants undertake exercises at their own pace (we recommend one exercise per fortnight). Every piece that your child posts will receive individual feedback (and encouragement) from a published and experienced writer.

Our feedback is given in suggestions to improve and expand each piece. (There are no marks.) We ask participants to consider these suggestions and to redraft or expand where this will improve the piece. We want participants to write well, and to write within their own aesthetics and preferred genres.

Although these workshops involve regular writing exercises and mentor feedback, a level of self-motivation is required. The workshop requires internet access from home, and some parental supervision and encouragement.
